Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the ligaments known as the plantar fascia that are attached to the heel bone and to the five metatarsal bones on sole the forefoot. The purpose of the fascia is to provide support to the longitudinal arch which is at the arch away from the midline of the body. This causes the foot to pronate roll in towards the body and causes pain on the inner arch and particularly on the inner side of the heal.
